Even though I've been feeling like crap, I've managed to keep up on the news from the Middle East. I think Stephen Green explains how I feel as well as anyone could. It's time for Israel to finish this nonsense off, and I think everyone knows it.
Stephen's post got me thinking about something else, though. I wonder if bloggers are, in their own small way, helping shape Israel's response. Pretty much everyone, including the mainstream media, realizes that popular bloggers like Glenn and Stephen have the views of the "man on the street". Their on-site, unedited, feedback supports that notion -- there's far more supporting comments than dissenting comments. And on the Israeli issue, the people who admit they would normally dissent even agree.
Any intelligence agency worth it's salt monitors foreign media outlets to guage how their enemies and allies will react to events. And I think it goes without question that the Mossad is worth it's salt. The big question is: have they started monitoring the major bloggers to estimate US sentiments? They would have to, wouldn't they? Now that Fox has started featuring bloggers on their site, it couldn't have escaped their notice. And with a little coding, it would be easier to monitor than regular news casts.
So are people like Stephen and Glenn helping shape Israeli response?

There is no God! If you believe in Evolution, where exactly did us Humans evolve a soul, a God and a heaven? for what possible competitive advantage? religion is a fantasy - certainly not worth fighting over. If you deny science over a fantasy, well... your not worthy of your highly evolved brains.
I dont see any real difference between Jewish religious settlers and Islamic extremists. It's a pity reasonable people are hostage to their ridiculous ideologies.
Uh... yeah, no difference at all.
Except for the part about one of them blowing themselves up in suicide attacks.
Well, you can hardly compare the two.
On the one hand we have a group of greedy bastards who already have a state (78% of the original mandate of Palestine), but sill find it neccessary to occupy the remaining 22%.
While the "Islamic Extremists"(another term used by many for Palestinians in general) are deprived of basic human rights such as access to health care and running water.
Daniel, i think your smart enough to know that the Israeli settlers are the ones with the power in relation to the Palestinians. Then why the devil would any settler think of blowing themselves up? The Palestinians are the ones with nothing to lose in this situation.
And don't forget that settlers are not as innocent as you'd like to think. Members of the terrorist group Kahane Chai have claimed responsibility for the killings of a number of Palestinian farmers, but i guess you wouldn't really see news like that in Jewish-owned media outlets like the New York Post and Fox News.
Great comments guys. Peter FDA
